DESCRIPTION: Transcendence is a 2014 science fiction film directed by cinematographer Wally Pfister in his directorial debut, and written by Jack Paglen. The English-language co-production stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Paul Bettany, and Morgan Freeman. Pfister's usual collaborator, Christopher Nolan, served as executive producer on the project.

At one time, Paglen's screenplay was part of what is known as the Black List, a list of popular but unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. Transcendence was a disappointment at the box office, barely recovering its $100 million budget. The film received mainly negative reviews; it was criticized for its plot structure, characters and dialogue, but lauded for its production, direction, visuals and cinematography.

Torky (Vic Sotto) is a bookkeeper working for Baba (Kris Aquino) a millionaire cash management specialist. Because of some conflict in her business that puts her life in danger, Baba entrusts the safety of her son Justin (Bimby Aquino-Yap) to Torky who takes him home to meet his daughter Ice (Aiza Seguerra) and Ching (Ryzza Mae Dizon) the street urchin that the latter took under her wing. Given that Justin is not particularly fond of Torky, how all four of them would get along under one roof becomes the focus of the story.

DESCRIPTION: Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay (referred as Pagpag) is a 2013 Filipino horror and suspense film directed by Frasco S. Mortiz.The film was released on December 25, 2013 at the Metro Manila Film Festival and stars Daniel Padilla in his horror movie debut. The movie follows a group of teenagers that are terrorized by an evil spirit.

The film revolves around the traditional Filipino belief that one should never go home directly after visiting a wake since it risks bringing evil spirits or the deceased to one's home.[6] One should first shake off (in Filipino, pagpág) whatever curse there may be to avoid being trailed by the soul of the dead.

A girl in a red dress (Empress Schuck), visits the funeral of her boyfriend (Enchong Dee) who hung himself. She is driven away by the boy's mother, insisting her son died because of her. When she arrives home, her sister asked her if she did the "pagpag" but she doesn't believed in it afterwards, she is suddenly taunted by the ghost of her dead boyfriend.
Cedric (Daniel Padilla), his friends; Hannah (Michelle Vito), Ashley (Miles Ocampo), Justin (CJ Navato) and Rico (Dominic Roque) enter a horror house. Hannah is assaulted by one of the men in the haunted house and Cedric fights for her. At home, Cedric's father (Dominic Ochoa) scolds and grounds him and takes Cedric's fake keys for the car. While his Dad gave orders to their maid, Cedric escapes and drives the highways until he almost runs over a girl, Leni (Kathryn Bernardo). They fight and Leni unknowingly loses her charm bracelet in Cedric's car.
Cedric and his friends party on a hill. Cedric and Hannah have a heated argument which ends in Cedric revealing that he doesn't actually have feelings for Hannah and is not ready for a committed relationship, which prompts her to throw a rock at Cedric, wounding his shoulder. Cedric loses control and drives up until morning where they come upon the funeral of Roman (Paulo Avelino) with his wife, Lucy (Shaina Magdayao), in despair. They soon discover that the funeral was arranged by Leni, Dencio (Janus del Prado) and Marcelo (Marvin Yap). After the funeral, Marcelo is seen sweeping the room when Eva (Matet de Leon) suddenly scolds him as it was a bad superstition. All of the unwanted guests violate a superstition including: Hannah, who dropped tears on the coffin when she saw Cedric holding Leni's hand; Rico, who wiped the coffin with a handkerchief; Justin, who stole bread from the funeral; Ashley for looking at her reflection in the mirror; Cedric, by attending the funeral with a wound; Dencio, who stole the money below the coffin and Leni and everyone else who did not do the "Pagpag," an act of dusting off oneself after a funeral to avoid evil spirits following you home.

DESCRIPTION: Interaksyon.com covered the Philpop 2014 Album press launch at the Cocoon Boutique Hotel last May 29. Familiar names and promising newcomers comprise the selected interpreters for the top 12 entries of the 3rd Philippine Popular Music Festival.
“This year’s finalists constitute a heady brew of the most varied genres: dance, rock, R&B, a couple of ballads, some pop and a genre-defying song in multi-meter. I am particularly excited to hear established singers shoulder to shoulder with new and up and coming performers,” declared PhilPop executive director Ryan Cayabyab.
PhilPop administrator and communications director Patricia Bermudez-Hizon added that the diversity of both the songs and their talented interpreters have made the competition more exciting and unpredictable.
“Every year we’re always impressed with the quality of submissions we received. It’s really hard to tell who has the edge in this contest,” Bermudez-Hizon noted.
In the order of their placement in the album, this year’s PhilPop interpreters consist of the following:
Teenage YouTube sensation Aldrich Talonding and cousin James Bucong, both from General Santos City, take on Toto Sorioso’s “Awit Mo’y Nandito Pa”.
The song “Hangout Lang” written by Allan Feliciano and Isaac Joseph Garcia is taken to a happy place by the odd pairing of former South Border frontman Duncan Ramos and hip-hop rapper Young JV.
Another intriguing collaboration is that of Kenyo’s McCoy Fundales and acoustic singer-songwriter Clara Benin, who collectively evangelize the compelling message of Cecilia Bocobo’s and Isaac Joseph Garcia’s “Kung Akin ang Langit”.
Fil-Italian VJ and singer-songwriter Luigi D’ Avola gets his biggest break as he hopes to parlay the youthful appeal of Davey Langit’s “No Girlfriend Since Break (NGSB)” to the top of the music charts, if not PhilPop’s P1 million grand prize.
Another matinee idol, Elmo Magalona, joins forces with king of R&B Jay-R as they get to interpret “Qrush on You” by QYork’s James Palma aka Flava Matikz and Cedric Bonjoc aka Knowa Lazarus.
Kyla is not only back with a new album but also as the chosen interpreter of Jungee Marcelo’s “Salbabida”. It will be interesting to see how the R&B and soul princess will fare in her team-up with the celebrated songwriter who has developed a reputation for being a consistent hitmaker.
General Luna’s Nicole Asensio comes into her own as she puts her own personal stamp on “Song on a Broken String” by Jude Gitamondoc and Therese Marie Villarante.
And finally, Jay-R’s bosom buddy and “Heart of R&B” Kris Lawrence essays Daryl Ong’s “Torpe” and hopes to make it the official anthem of all the guys who don’t know how to approach the girls they like.
